Van The Beacon in Antwerpen tot het Wintercircus in Gent: Vlaanderen bruist van ondernemingszin. Forbes bundelt het belangrijkste startupnieuws van de afgelopen maand in \u00e9\u00e9n overzicht.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Showpad verkocht aan Amerikaanse speler<\/h2>\n<p>Succesvolle exits verdienen een feestje. De Gentse Techparel Showpad gaat naar de Amerikaanse investeerder Vector Capital Management voor een onbekend bedrag. Die groep was al eigenaar van concurrent Bigtincan en brengt beide bedrijven samen onder de Showpad-vlag.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Showpad<\/strong> werd in 2011 opgericht door Pieterjan Bouten, Louis Jonckheere en Peter Minne om marketing- en salesteams effici\u00ebnter te laten samenwerken. Vijftien jaar later telt de scale-up zowat 400 medewerkers, waarvan 120 in Gent. Dat de drie oprichters nu op hun lauweren zouden rusten, lijkt onwaarschijnlijk. Pieterjan Bouten leidt startupstudio Entourage, Peter Minne bouwt verder aan leerplatform Smart Symbols en Louis Jonckheere verenigt Gents Techtalent in het Wintercircus.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/help.showpad.com\/hc\/en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">help.showpad.com<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>AI-specialist Waylay krijgt nieuwe eigenaar<\/h2>\n<p>Nog een exit, al kreeg die wat minder aandacht. De Gentse scale-up <strong>Waylay<\/strong>, die IT-processen automatiseert, wordt overgenomen door de Amerikaanse multinational Vertiv. Met deze deal wil Vertiv zijn datacenterinfrastructuur verder versterken en versnellen met AI.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.waylay.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.waylay.io\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Investeringen in Tech stabiliseren na recordjaar<\/h2>\n<p>2024 was een absoluut topjaar voor de Belgische Techsector. In 2025 is het moeilijk om dat tempo aan te houden, al zijn er ook positieve signalen. In de eerste helft van dit jaar haalden Belgische startups meer dan 366 miljoen euro op in 71 rondes. \u201c<em>We zien meer deals dan vorig jaar, maar de bedragen liggen lager,<\/em>\u201d zegt <strong>Frederik Tibau<\/strong> van <strong>Technologiefederatie Agoria<\/strong>, dat de cijfers publiceerde.<\/p>\n<p>De sector wordt vooral gedragen door CleanTech en HealthTechbedrijven. Ook semiconductoren doen het goed, mede dankzij fondsen als imec.xpand. \u201c<em>Kapitaal vinden voor de beginfase van een startup is meestal geen probleem. Het Gentse <strong>Betterpic<\/strong> haalt meer dan 2 miljoen euro op om zijn groei te versnellen. De AI-startup tovert selfies om tot professionele 4K-portretfoto\u2019s. Medeoprichter Ricardo Ghekiere kocht <strong>Betterpic<\/strong> twee jaar geleden over voor een symbolische euro. Vandaag mikt het bedrijf op een omzet van 3 miljoen euro.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.betterpic.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.betterpic.io<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Gofluo wil ook schitteren in het buitenland<\/h2>\n<p>01\u00a9 DR\/GofluoOok in Antwerpen borrelt het van talent, met onder meer Julie Vets, oprichtster van <strong>Gofluo<\/strong>. De maker van hippe reflecterende kleding kijkt ambitieus naar het buitenland. Een investering van 1,5 miljoen euro moet die plannen ondersteunen.
