Rusland is sinds 2023 de grootste olie leverancier van India, wat heeft geleid tot handelsspanningen tussen New Delhi en Washington. De laatste sancties tegen de twee grootste oliemaatschappijen van Rusland zouden zulke grote importstromen vrijwel onmogelijk maken, zo meldde het rapport, daarbij verwijzend naar anonieme senior executives bij Indiase raffinaderijen. Reuters meldde ook dat de staatsraffinaderijen van India Russische olie-aankopen herzien om ervoor te zorgen dat er geen leveringen rechtstreeks van Rosneft en Lukoil komen. Trump, die een zware heffing van 50% heeft opgelegd aan India vanwege zijn Russische olie-importen, zei dat de Indiase premier Narendra Modi hem had verzekerd dat Delhi &#8220;niet veel olie uit Rusland ging kopen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Belangrijk citaat<\/h2>\n<p>De verklaring van het ministerie van Financi\u00ebn voegde hieraan toe: &#8220;De Verenigde Staten zullen blijven pleiten voor een vreedzame oplossing van de oorlog, en een blijvende vrede hangt volledig af van de bereidheid van Rusland om in goed vertrouwen te onderhandelen. Het ministerie zal zijn bevoegdheden blijven gebruiken ter ondersteuning van een vredesproces.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Wat heeft Trump gezegd over de sancties tegen Rusland?<\/h2>\n<p>De sancties werden aangekondigd terwijl de president een ontmoeting had met de secretaris-generaal van de NAVO, Mark Rutte, in het Oval Office. Toen verslaggevers vroegen naar de sancties, zei Trump: \u201cKijk, dit zijn enorme sancties. Deze zijn heel groot. Omdat ze tegen hun twee grote oliemaatschappijen zijn en we hopen dat ze niet lang van kracht zullen zijn. We hopen dat de oorlog opgelost zal worden.\u201d Trump was van plan een persoonlijke ontmoeting te hebben met zijn Russische ambtgenoot, Vladimir Poetin, in Hongarije om een mogelijk staakt-het-vuren in de Oekra\u00efne-oorlog te bespreken, maar dit werd afgezegd. Op woensdag vertelde Trump aan verslaggevers: \u201cWe hebben de ontmoeting met president Poetin geannuleerd \u2014 het voelde gewoon niet goed voor mij. Het voelde niet alsof we zouden komen waar we moeten zijn.
