Ze dienen rechtszaken in tegen de Trump-regering om teruggave van hun betaalde tarieven te verkrijgen, na eerder stil te zijn geweest.<\/p>\n<h2>Belangrijke Feiten<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Het Hooggerechtshof beraadt zich over de vraag of de door Trump opgelegde tarieven wettelijk zijn opgelegd onder de International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), zoals de president beweert, of dat ze moeten worden ingetrokken.<\/li>\n<li>Rechters toonden zich huiverig voor de tarieven en, als het beleid wordt ingetrokken, kunnen bedrijven die al tarieven hebben betaald, restituties krijgen voor de reeds betaalde kosten.<\/li>\n<li>Costco is het laatste grote bedrijf dat een rechtszaak heeft aangespannen, naast andere merken zoals het cosmeticagigant Revlon, motorrijfabrikant Kawasaki Motors, Bumble Bee Foods en EssilorLuxottica, eigenaar van grote brillenmerken zoals Ray-Ban.<\/li>\n<li>Juridische experts hebben aan Forbes verteld dat het onduidelijk is hoe een restitutieproces zou verlopen, maar rechtbankstukken laten zien dat meer dan 70 bedrijven al rechtszaken hebben aangespannen om het proces op gang te brengen. Ze vragen het Amerikaanse Hof van Internationale Handel de tarieven onwettig te verklaren, de federale overheid te dwingen het geld dat ze hebben betaald terug te betalen en te verhinderen dat de overheid deze ingrijpende tarieven van Trump voortaan in rekening brengt.<\/li>\n<li>De rechtszaken markeren een nieuwe wending in de juridische strijd over Trump&#8217;s tarieven, omdat het voorheen kleinere bedrijven waren die tegen de heffingen optraden, terwijl grotere bedrijven zich ervoor behoedden om het beleid openlijk te bekritiseren.<\/li>\n<li>Andere bedrijven die de afgelopen weken rechtszaken hebben aangespannen, zijn onder meer het verpakkingsbedrijf Berlin Packaging, brillengroep Innovative Eyewear, fitnessapparatuurfabrikant iFit, aluminiumproducent Alcoa en leidingsleverancier Ferguson Enterprises, onder anderen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Cruciale Quote<\/h2>\n<p>De teruggave rechtszaken zijn noodzakelijk &#8230; omdat zelfs als de IEEPA-heffingen en de onderliggende uitvoerende bevelen door het Hooggerechtshof onwettig worden verklaard, importeurs die IEEPA-heffingen hebben betaald, inclusief de eisers, niet gegarandeerd een teruggave ontvangen van deze onrechtmatig ge\u00efnde tarieven zonder een rechterlijke uitspraak die dat beveelt, zo betoogden Costco, Revlon en andere bedrijven in hun rechtszaken.
