Niet alleen over die van zijn modehuis, maar ook over zijn persoonlijke leven met partner Patrick Vangheluwe. <em>\u201cWat kan mijn creatieve leven nog meer worden?\u201d<\/em> Parallel aan die existenti\u00eble overweging groeide een idee dat al langer sluimerde. Van Noten was altijd omringd door makers, van kleermakers in zijn familie tot de vele ambachtslieden met wie hij doorheen de jaren samenwerkte. <em>\u201cHun handen dragen een intelligentie die machines niet kunnen repliceren\u201d<\/em>, benadrukt hij. Vakmanschap vormt het hart van de Fondazione. Voor Van Noten is het <em>\u201cde onvervangbare menselijke essentie: werken met je handen en je ziel om via materiaal, gebaar en tijd betekenis te geven.\u201d<\/em> Ambacht als een tegengewicht voor een steeds monotonere wereld. <em>\u201cHet is een stille ankerplaats\u201d<\/em>, zegt hij, <em>\u201cvoor elke gepassioneerde daad van creatie.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Die nadruk op ambacht betekent geen afwijzing van innovatie. Integendeel. <em>\u201cIk zie de relatie tussen traditie en technologie als een gesprek door de tijd heen\u201d<\/em>, legt Van Noten uit. <em>\u201cWe leven niet in de achttiende eeuw, en hulpmiddelen zoals 3D-printing en AI kunnen de creativiteit net zo goed dienen.\u201d<\/em> Wanneer die werelden elkaar ontmoeten, ontstaat er volgens hem iets onverwachts: <em>\u201cInnovatie vervangt ambacht niet. Tegelijk wil hij het gebouw niet benaderen als een bevroren monument. <em>\u201cWe zien het als een podium\u201d<\/em>, benadrukt hij, <em>\u201ceen plek waar idee\u00ebn, vaardigheden en mensen met elkaar in interactie treden.\u201d<\/em> Het programma van de Fondazione weerspiegelt die open houding. Bezoekers kunnen een hybride aanbod verwachten waarin kunst, design, mode, architectuur, ambacht en gastronomie samenkomen. levend\u201d<\/em>, zegt Van Noten. <em>\u201cNiet als iets archiefmatigs, maar als een praktijk in beweging.\u201d<\/em> Wat hij jonge makers vooral wil meegeven, gaat verder dan techniek.
